Josh and I went to TJ Maxx last night for some random shopping. I never go into TJ Maxx or any of those similar stores (Ross, Marshall's, AJ Wright, etc.) without browsing the "Gourmet Food" department (that's how it rings up on the receipt). Anyway, yesterday it seemed as if TJ Maxx had recently stocked the shelves, because there was awesome stuff everywhere. A lot of all-natural and organic cookie and cake mixes, Barefoot Contessa mixes, organic cookies, pancake and waffles mixes. After about a half hour, we walked up to the checkout counter with our hands full. This is what I bought. Click on them to see a larger view.
- I love pancakes and I LOVE blueberry pancakes, but I'm not very fond of the taste of fresh blueberries. This mix is right up my alley. The ingredients are very simple, no extra preservatives, and blueberries are the 2nd ingredient (which means there's a lot of 'em)! It was $2.99
- I've heard a lot about Scharffen Berger chocolate, and they always talk about it on America's Test Kitchen. I bought these tasting squares, which I'll most likely use for baking. They were $3.49 each.
- This was the most expensive thing I bought, but I never pass up something unique that involves cupcakes. It's pineapple cupcake mix and it comes with pina colada frosting mix. I just thought the packaging was so cute, and how could I resist that cute little wooden spoon? It was $7.99.
- I almost didn't even see these on the shelf. I was ready to leave, and then the angels opened up the heavens and showed me the light! Once again, I cannot pass up cupcake mix, especially with such unique flavors (compared to the usual vanilla/chocolate). These were $5.99 each.
You know when I use these products, I'll definitely post about them here. Keep a look out for them most likely in May.

I am so green with envy... my eyes are floating in jealousy!!!! The closest TJ max marshalls or Ross is 100 miles from us so it is somewhere I hardly ever go... I LOVE PINEAPPLE it is hands down my fav fruit!! I am actually working on my own recipe for pineapple upside down cake that I wanted to bake tonight... OH SO CUTE! Uhhh if I didn't love ya so much I sure would hate you ;O)
oh--how fun!
the only problem with buying food at TJ Maxx/Marshall's is that it's usually been floating around the original store for about 6 months before getting sent to the discounted stores.
Happy One Year :)
You have such a fun blog! I wish we had cake mixes like that over here, they look so yummy!
Angela, everything I bought had an expiration date printed on it! I made sure it wasn't hundreds of years old :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the blog!
I made a trip to TJ Maxx this week, its not in our town but the same town as my mother in law, boo hoo, they didnt have any of those mixes for cupcakes.........
I just bought those Dan Jacob's mixes too! I'm hoping they'll be as tasty as they sound.
I wish I had found that Scharffen Berger too! But it makes sense that you can't buy discounted Scharffen Berger here, considering that the tiny Scharffen Berger factory is just a mile from my apartment.
so first of all I love your blog. fantastic! and I gotta tell you my mom works for Home Goods and they have a fantastic food selection. The best is the hot chocolates that they have at christmas. To die for! goes excellant with cupcakes:)
