It's Not Goodbye!

Dear loyal readers, lurkers, fellow bloggers, that one girl who recognized me on the street at Greek fest, and everyone else who has ever had a part in making this blog what it is...

With great regret, I am writing this entry to admit that my plate is full. As much as I enjoy this blog (a.k.a. my outlet for making up excuses to bake and posting my successes and failures for your reading and recreating pleasures), it seems I am unable to make time for anything on the computer other than looking for wedding planners, shopping for retro lighting, multiplying all my recipes by 3, and organizing the gazillion resumes I received after posting an ad for Flour Child Bakery on craiglist. Who knew it would be so time consuming to start a business and plan a wedding at the same time? Hah! (Oh, did I mention Josh proposed to me on my birthday??) ;D

All I can say is thank you times infinity for all of the wonderful support, help when I was looking for a certain recipe, comments saying how much you wished I would start baking cupcakes again, and letting me know when I typed 2 tablespoons of baking powder instead of 2 teaspoons. I know I wouldn't be the baker I am today without this blog and all of you! I hope that you will continue to support me by following my other blog, http://flourchildbakery.blogspot.com. There, I will try my best to keep everyone updated on the progress of the bakery, as well as try to reassure other aspiring entrepreneurs that opening a bakery isn't the gauntlet some lead me to believe. It's been fun and fulfilling so far, especially because I'm doing it all with my mom by my side. :)

I'm not saying goodbye because I feel like this won't be my absolute last post on How To Eat A Cupcake. Think of it as more of a TTFN (or "ta ta for now" in case my mom ever reads this and doesn't understand internet acronyms)! :D I've enjoyed every minute of it!!

I don't even know you, but have been reading your blog from the beginning and am so happy for you and proud of you! You are an inspiration to us amateur bakers out there who would like to have their own bakery some day. YOU DID IT! I have used your blog as a baking resource countless times, even emailing you for help. I hope I can make it out there some day and taste some of those wonderful creations! From the bottom of my heart, good luck to you (and congrats on the wedding!!).

I guess you could call me one of those secret stockers because I have been following your blog for over two years but have never sent an email or commented on any of your recipes. Every time I think about baking anything I have always gone to your blog first. My recreations of your recipes have earned me many a compliment and I have always responded with a humble smile and a quickly blurted out “just go to howtoeatacupcake.net”. I can’t even begin to thank you enough for your ideas, your inspiration, your quirky sense of humor and your excellent recipes! Although I have lived in NH for 30 of my 31 years, I was born in VA and I’m going to add visiting your shop to my bucket list! Congratulations on your shop and your upcoming married! Best of luck chica!

Aww! You will be greatly missed, Cassie! You're the one that inspired me to start my own baking blog, and I've truly enjoyed reading yours! I'm glad that you won't be gone forever.

Best of luck to you! And I can't wait to keep reading about the new bakery.

This is still my #1 baking site that I go to for recipes and info, so I'm glad it will remain up.

Wow, Cassie, I will miss you so much. I realize that you don't know me, but I feel like you, Josh, and your Mom and Dad are like family. I have followed along with you for such a long time and your recipes are truly the best. Your video on baking artisan bread got me started on making my own again after years of not doing it. My family thanks you for that! I wish you the best with your business and with your upcoming marriage. You have given us all so much happiness - now it's your turn (o:

Cassie, many congrats to you, and to your family! I thought I was the only anonymous stalker who read your blog religiously and modeled my baking pictures after yours! You're an inspiration to so many, and I hope you always remember your loyal readers. If I'm ever in your neighborhood, I will definitely visit your shop and introduce myself :). I hope you and Josh take good care of each other and love each other as much as you love SMBC frosting!

Well, well ...

I didn't follow the blog from the beginning. All I can say is that this blog has been my only source of cupcakes recipes so far. I live in Germany and cupcakes are not yet so popular but I made them very popular among my family and friends. All the weight we gained is thanks to your wonderful recipes (cookie dough and cream cheese frosting top of the list).

I wish you all the luck in the world and if I get the chance to get close to your bakery some day, you can be sure I'll drop by.

Greetings from Germany

I'm a long time reader...first time commenter. First of all, congrats on the bakery and engagement! I'm so happy for you. It's amazing reading your blog all these years and seeing now that your bakery dream came true! Good luck on everything! Please, be sure to keep your blog up! I still come back to look up your recipes. You've converted me to SMBC! I'm in San Diego, but if I ever happen to be up in your area, I'll be sure to stop by! =)

You're engaged?? Wow!! And I thought that opening a bakery was all that was keeping you busy. COngratulations :) Do post pictures of both!

Congrats! You're 20 years younger than me and living my dream...it's fun to see it come to fruition. Before you leave for good, could you at least share how your levain chocolate chip cookies compared to the real thing in NYC????
I've been waiting to find out if you decided to tweak the recipe at all. Well, Congrats, and I'll stop in the bakery when we come to the east coast!

Ditto on the "I don't know you from Adam, but I stalk your blog religiously" comments... LOL... Congratulations on the bakery and on the engagement!! As a newlywed myself, I can tell you it's a bit of work to get the wedding together, but it's worth every minute and every compromise you and Josh will have to make along the planning journey. :-) We may be moving to VA Beach in the next couple of years, and if we do, I'll be sure to come check out Flour Child Bakery!! Yum! Best of luck with everything :-)

WHAAAAAAAAAT :( I'm so happy for you and the upcoming wedding, but aww shucks for the stop of this blog :( Although you won't be updating anymore, will you still keep this website? You have a gazillion recipes I've yet to try and I somehow feel it'd be such a waste if all these would be erased from the internet altogether. Damn :<

I've also been following your blog for more than a year now and I can honestly say that YOU are one of the reasons why I just love cupcakes and especially SMBC!!! I remember emailing you the firs time I made my SMBC and found it a little soupy. From then on, with your tips in tow, I was able to make SMBC flawlessly.

I'll make sure to drop by Flour Child Bakery when i'm in the states! Or perhaps you'll open one here in Toronto/Vancouver in the future :> Haha. I hope everything turns out well!! Goodluck & congratulations!!
