THE GETTING TO KNOW YOU QUIZ

I saw this meme-style quiz over on The Boastful Baker who copied it from Brownie Points. Both are awesome blogs, so check them out after you read this quiz.

PS: Feel free to copy it onto your blog so we can get to know YOU! :D

THE GETTING TO KNOW YOU QUIZ

Metal or non-stick? Non-stick! I'm way to much of a clutz to rely on metal pans...

Cast iron or stainless? Cast iron. I don't even think I have one piece of stainless steel in my kitchen!

Cutting board: silicone or wood? Wood... and it's like 95 years old (slight exaggeration). It belongs to my parents, and they've had it since before I was born! I'm sure it's a health hazard! =/

Knife: carbon steel or stainless? You know what... I really have no clue. All I know is we have cheap knives and no knife sharpening. Which is why I'm a BAKER! I hardly ever use a knife!

Kitchenaid or hand mixer? Kitchenaid... because I have the hand mixer AND the stand mixer!

Cooktop: gas, electric, induction? Gas, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Side-by-side, freezer on top, fridge on top? Side-by-side... Hopefully when I move out, I'll be able to afford a nice fridge with a freezer drawer on the bottom! ;)

Apron or whoops? It depends on my mood. If I have company over, I like to look cute in an apron. But when I'm alone, I usually just keep a kitchen towel on hand to clean up my messes.

Mashed potatoes: by hand, ricer, or mixer? I really prefer my mashed potatoes chunky and with the skins on, so I do them by hand. But I still live at home with my parents. Momma prefers to beat out every lump with a mixer.

Sandwich or wrap? Wraps are hoity toity! I'll take a sandwich with chips... chips ON the sandwich, in case that wasn't clear. :D

PB & _________ ? Jelly... grape jelly... on challah, please! No crusts, thanks.

Pancakes: syrup or applesauce? Applesauce?? Who does that!? I grew up on Aunt Jemima syrup, but lately I prefer the real thing. I like to heat my maple syrup with a pat of salted butter! YUM!

Cake: scratch or mix? Again, I grew up on mix, but I LOOOVE making scratch cakes. I bake from scratch 95% of the time. There's really no comparison!

Chili: beans or no? Depends... are we talking hot dog chili? Or cornbread chili? If it's for a hot dog: no beans! If it's gonna be eaten with cornbread: yes beans!

Napkin: cloth or paper? I'd like to use cloth napkins when I move out and get my own place. But as for now we have paper Halloween napkins on our table... They were 80% off at Target and we bought 5 huge packs!

BBQ: takes the whole weekend to make or take out? As long as it's not too fatty, I don't care where it comes from! But I love it with carolina-style vinegar sauce!

Chicken: white or dark? White... I don't know why, but I've always chosen the breast. Maybe I'll go for a thigh next time!

Ice cream: cone or dish? At home I eat it in a bowl, just because I really don't like store-bought cones, and I've never tried making my own. But if I can get a fresh waffle cone, that's what I want! And sprinkles.... LOTS of rainbow sprinkles!

The Halloween napkin confession made me laugh. It sounds like something my family would do. :)

Gotta love the rainbow sprinkles! I think I'm gonna pick some up tomorrow when we head to the store.

The next time you're at Macy's for a one day sale, wander into the Cellar. I bet you can get a really nice hand sharpener for less than $50. It is not worth cutting a finger.

I have to wear an apron. I even wear one when I eat--I tend to be a disaster.

Good fun! Some of these questions are rather US specific and went over my head (for instance the barbie question), but I do the same when it comes to aprons. On a normal day, I cook in my 'at home' (read not suitable for public display) clothes so nothing to protect, but with visitors, it's my best pinnie! Golden syrup is the best on pancakes:P

I've never heard of applesauce on pancakes either. Have you tried buttermilk syrup? That's fantastic!

Answered this, too! I've never heard of applesauce on pancakes. But then again, I don't really see applesauce a lot where I'm from. d:

Applesauce is for latkes or potato pancakes; when I was growing up, my mom put maple syrup on pancakes, granulated sugar on French toast, and powdered sugar on waffles. All yummy!
